Worried about alcohol? Support can start with a conversation

You do not need to wait until things feel unmanageable before asking for support.
If alcohol is starting to affect your health, mood, relationships, work, sleep or everyday life, Horizon Blackpool can help you talk things through.

Support with alcohol can start with a simple conversation.
You do not have to know exactly what support you need.
Some people want to stop drinking completely. Others want to cut down, understand their drinking patterns, or feel more in control. We can help you explore what feels realistic for you.

How support can help

Small conversations can lead to real change

1

Talk it through

You can speak openly about what is going on, without judgement or pressure.

2

Understand your options

We can help you look at your drinking, triggers, routines and what support could work for you.

3

Move at your pace

Support is shaped around your goals, whether that means cutting down, stopping, or staying safer.

When should I ask for support?

There is no “right” time to ask for help. You do not need to hit crisis point, lose control, or have everything figured out before speaking to someone.

It may be worth reaching out if alcohol is starting to feel harder to manage, or if you have noticed changes in your mood, sleep, relationships, motivation, money, health or confidence.

You might want support if alcohol is:

  • Becoming a regular way to cope with stress, anxiety or low mood
  • Affecting your sleep, energy or motivation
  • Causing arguments or worries at home
  • Making work, parenting or daily routines harder
  • Starting to affect your physical or mental health
  • Something you have tried to cut down before but found difficult
  • Leaving you feeling guilty, worried or stuck

Do I have to stop drinking completely?

No. You do not have to be ready to stop completely before speaking to Horizon.
Some people want to become alcohol-free, while others want to reduce their drinking or understand their options.

We will work with you in a way that feels realistic and manageable. The first step can simply be a conversation.

Good to know

  • You will not be judged
  • Support is free and confidential

What could alcohol support include?

Support looks different for different people. Depending on your situation, Horizon may be able to help you with one-to-one support, recovery planning, health and wellbeing conversations, reducing risks, managing cravings, relapse prevention, and access to wider support if needed.

If you are physically dependent on alcohol, it is important not to suddenly stop drinking without medical advice. Horizon can help you understand safer options and what support may be appropriate.

What if I am worried about someone else?

You can still contact Horizon if you are worried about a family member, friend, partner, colleague or someone you support professionally.
We can talk through your concerns and help you understand what options may be available.
